Synopsis:

Due to her unusual birth, Amber has abilities no other werewolf has ever possessed. On the run since childhood, the lone wolf avoids contact with other werewolves at all cost, continually moving, constantly looking over her shoulder and always alone.

Everything changes when Amber saves a werewolf from the mere brink of death, Blake, the only werewolf to ever protect her. Love blossoms, but not without tribulations when Amber realizes she must help her new pack rescue a member who is being held hostage by a rival pack.

Warring with emotions of going from lone wolf to the pack leader’s mate, Amber must decide if she is willing to risk Blake’s life to know true family and friendship despite the fact that the Council is hell bent on locating her and will stop at nothing until she is found. Will Amber’s special abilities be enough to keep everyone safe?

My review:

No Remorse by MaryLynn Bast was an interesting book to read. It was well-written, the characters were likable and the story gave a very good insight into the werewolf world.

Regarding the plot:

Meet Amber, a lonely werewolf who has been running all her life. Amber’s mother has told her horrifying stories about what will happen if they get caught by the pack and the werewolf council from which Amber’s mother has been running from.

Amber’s mother has filled Amber with fear and not to trust anybody. Suddenly Amber is totally alone, her mother is taken away from her and Amber is sent to a home for werewolves who have no packs and she comes through lot of abuse before she can escape from there. The only person whom she trusts is a young werewolf Blake who is organizing and helping her to be on a run again.

Due to an accident Amber and Blake meet again years later. Their friendship grows as their feeling towards each other start to develop. Amber is very afraid to trust him, but so far Blake has been the only person who is supporting her. After she finds out that Blake is an alpha male in a big pack, her doubts are increasing because what Amber’s mother told her about wolf packs and how the packs are treating their females. Amber does not want to be controlled by anybody.

When Amber is discovering her different abilities she has, she gets even more cautious, but when Blake supports her and helps her to understand and discover her abilities their relationship grows even stronger.

The story and the plot are good. There are many descriptions how the mind of Amber works, how she sees the world around her and how she is surrounded by the mistrust towards others and you get to know Amber very good during the story. That was definitely a strong part of the story.

I also enjoyed the twists and turns in the story, because there were quite many of them. It was well thought through, so it never got boring. It keeps the reader interested. I also liked, that even though it’s a series, it seems that every book in the series is standalone novel.

The plot is very character driven and the characters are given a lot to the whole plot.

Regarding the characters:

I liked Amber. She is incredibly strong woman by surviving all alone in the world. I also loved how the author developed her through learning to trust others of her kind. I loved reading how she learned to love and belong.

Blake was my favorite character in No Remorse. He gave space to Amber when she needed and by giving her independence and freedom of choice, he also took away Amber’s doubts about belonging to a wolf pack. He taught her how to love and trust.

Generally:

No Remorse by MaryLynn Bast is a good start for the series. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book written by her. No Remorse was well-written; it had an interesting story to tell. I would recommend it to readers who love good paranormal romance.
